I'm Back....

Wow!!! It has been quite a year. I know it has been quite awhile since I have written... so much to say.... my head is full of stuff... now, last week it was literally full of "stuff".... I was sick. That does not happen very often but when it does... I am really out for the count.

Back on track now.... Alot has happened since I last wrote..... we have a new addition to our family.... his name is Nickolas Lee Williams! Born on May 16th, 2007. What an adventure. My daughter Ashley and her husband Jeffrey welcomed this little critter with open arms.... what an exciting time. Nick~o's first few months inside his mommy were very uneventful.... no morning sickness for Ash.... life was good. He swam every day in open water... had plenty of room.... he was a happy little flutter. One day during a routine sonogram..... an oops was discovered.... black spots on the screen.......well, that is what we saw, however, the doctor saw cysts on a kidney. Now, the fun began!!!

Ashley had to quickly learn how to juggle Dr. appointments, hair appointments (her clients), household duties, daughter duties and wifely duties. I do not know how she did it. She had atleast two dr. appts per week. Many ultrasounds (or sonograms... same thing)..... lots of being monitored. Nickolas grew at a rapid pace.... we thought he would be 3 feet tall when he was born. Luckily for Ash, that was just our goofy imaginations!! Since Jeffrey had to be at work... had to make diaper money...... I was blessed to be able to go to most appointments with Ash. We settled in quite nicely..... we were pretty good "waiting room waiters"..... we kept most of the other "grumpy" patients chuckling pretty good..... never a dull moment with us. We kept the nurses in chuckles too. I am sure they see alot of gripy broads... not us..... no.... never us... we were "cool". They miss us. NO, really, they miss us. They told us so.

Life went along pretty good until the "infamous" appointment with her regular dr. I think it was a monday morning.... Nickolas' heart rate was good.... no contractions.....Ashes blood pressure was high. No.... not high......... but REALLY high. Dr. said ..."Bed rest chicka".....ooooohhhhh Ash said...........hmmmm.......mom said...........then dr. said........... wait just a bit.......... lets check this thing again................... "straight to hospital" dr. said...... ooooohhhhhh Ash said............ hmmmmm mom said........... we whipped out our cell phones and started dialing....... it was like we were making a hundered 911 calls..... are we having a baby today..????? what is happening. It did not take long for the "wagons to circle" the camp..... Jeffrey aka daddy, Amanda and Taylor, gran.... the list goes on and on. Ash was admitted to the antepartum ward. You would have thought that an extremely famous person was being admitted...well, it was Ash, so I guess a famous person was being admitted!!

Day after day went by..... Ash and I watched alot of television....I learned about a show called "Gilmore Girls"..... "Runs House"...... Watched alot of "Rob and Big".... some movies....... napped...... yes, I napped too.... a great fear however...because I snore. No, I really snore..... One day we were watching Pirates of the Carribean.... the next thing I knew... Ash was saying "mom, wake up....mom.... wake up.... you are snoring and my nurse should be in shortly.... I did not want you to be embarrassed" !!!!! Wow.... thanks for saving me Ash!! Ash had a nurse that was just a pregnant as Ash.... we would always try to get her to come in and sit down and watch tv with us.....she wanted to....but.... needed her job more.... The cleaning lady was a favorite.... we named her Doc Mary. She checked on how Ash was feeling every day after we named her a Doctor!! She was proud of her promotion.... sometime ask me about the way this all came about. I do not want to put it in writing because it may come back to haunt me.

Finally, the day was set that Nickolas would make his arrival. May 16th, 2007. Ash had a C~section. Everyone was able to be at the hospital except Gramps. Now get this.... when Taylor was born in Amarillo... Gramps was in Lubbock. When Nickolas was born in Lubbock...Gramps was in Amarillo!!! Ok Gramps.... we will give you fare warning on the next baby so you can be in the "correct" town!! The delivery was great.... Lowry Schaub, a wonderful friend, and anestheologist.....was in the delivery room.... he called me as soon as Nick~o came out.... I could hear the babe cry. It was awesome. A sound I will never forget!!

Nick~o still has alot of Dr. appointments to go now. He has one functioning kidney. But atleast we know it is very healthy. He still has to have a little surgery on his little penis.....poor baby. Probably lots of years of monitoring. He is adorable. Growing like a weed. I think he will soon pass up cousin Taylor. Taylor loves nick~o..... I am sure they will be best buddies soon.

Well... that was a bit of an update on the major thing in our life. I will write more about all of our adventures since April..... stay tuned!! Love, Shari
